L.A Noire causing problems on both the PS3 and Xbox 360?

A statement released on Rockstar's forums gave the following explanation to consumers complaining of console problems while playing the game on the PS3:

We have received some reports of PS3s overheating while playing L.A. Noire or beeping three times before shutting down/turning themselves off, mostly on older 60GB and 80GB fat models.http://www.blogger.com/img/blank.gif

Primary reports seem to be that updating to firmware 3.61 will cause PlayStations to overheat. There have been various reports of this on a few different games now, all reporting their PS3s turning off or 'Red Lighting' after having installed 3.61.

This can range from games randomly freezing to PS3s turning off anywhere between 30 mins use to 2 hours. We have confirmed locally that multiple games (Rockstar and non-Rockstar) overheat or freeze only when 3.61 is installed.

There are also reports online stating that the Xbox 360 version of the game is locking up. Rockstar seems to be aware of Xbox 360 issues. Part of the studio's advice is to "clear the 360 cache". Click here to see the advice.

Well this doesn't sound good, it hasn't been released here in the UK yet but there already seems to be problems. I also feel sorry for the PS3 as it seems that everything is going wrong with it! I want to know what your opinion on L.A Noire if you have already got it and if you have not then are you looking forward to it? Comment below! :)

  1. Uh oh, overheating is NEVER good. Could lead to small problems like shutting down to BIG problems like RRoD and even fires. Hope this gets fixed quick.

  7. They(PS3) better figure that out quickly... guess they haven't spent enough time testing stuff while trying to fix the nets.
